Chicago’s Spanish Language Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary

CHICAGO, IL — Nov. 28, 2011 — On December 5th, 2001, the Spanish Language Center, Inc. (Spanish-LC) opened its doors to the public. Just two students attended Spanish-LC's first class. Ten years later, Spanish-LC has provided education, translation, and interpreting services to thousands of customers throughout the Chicago region.

In the late 1990s, Spanish-LC's founder and director, Juan Guillermo Cortez, had a vision of making a difference in the burgeoning field of Spanish language instruction. “From day one, I knew that Spanish-LC would succeed due to its commitment to offering quality, well-structured courses provided by professionally-trained instructors,” says Mr. Cortez. “A decade ago, the Spanish education offered to adults by many other private institutions in the Chicago area lacked such a focus. Improvised classes provided by unprepared instructors were the norm in this market.”

Mr. Cortez sought to offer a different experience. Based on his years as a Spanish teacher, he developed a curriculum for all levels of adult instruction. Today, the Cortez Method, which is used in Spanish-LC classes, consists of several volumes of textbooks and workbooks for all levels of adult students. In addition to instruction, Spanish-LC expanded its services to provide translations and interpreting. Spanish-LC has also expanded its presence in the Chicago area. Today, it has three locations: its original Lakeview headquarters, an office in the Loop (which opened in 2004), and an office in suburban Palatine (which opened in 2005). Further growth is planned: in 2012, Spanish-LC will further develop its Spanish programs for children as well as specific professional fields.

10 Year Anniversary Discounts

To thank the Chicago community for its support during the past ten years, Spanish-LC will offer discounts of up to 50% for group and private classes. The promotion will run from December 1st through December 9th. “We encourage all current, former, and new students who want to learn Spanish to take advantage of this offer,” says Mr. Cortez. “As we enter our second decade, this promotion is our way of saying ‘Gracias Chicago' for a successful first decade!”

Fine Print: What is the Catch?

The catch is that there is no catch. There are some restrictions that apply: 1) Each deal is personal and may not be split or shared with other(s); 2) If deal has not been used at all, it may be transfered to a third party (only once); 3) Only one deal per person (may buy more as gifts to third parties); 4) All deals expire on December 31, 2012 (no exceptions); 5) Deals are non-refundable, but may be transferred to third party if not used at all; 6) Regular class rules of attendance, cancellation and rescheduling apply to all deals; 7) Availability is limited to the first 30 respondents for private classes and 25 for group classes; 8) Discounts of this deal may not be applied to past registrations or in combination to other discounts.
